For 45 years, Blue Ridge Care has evolved to meet the changing needs of our community. Today, one of the most exciting examples of that evolution is the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), a comprehensive model of care designed to help older adults remain independent while receiving the medical, social, and supportive services they need.
Recently, PACE participant Darlene Hamby, Blue Ridge Care Board Director Dr. Charlotte Dillis, and Vice President of Business Development Ben Weber joined Good Morning Washington to share how the program is helping older adults thrive while bringing peace of mind and support to families and caregivers.

Aging Doesn’t Have to Mean Going It Alone
During the segment, PACE participant Darlene Hamby shared her personal experience with the program and the difference it has made in her life.
Like many older adults, Darlene experienced loneliness and isolation. Through PACE, she found more than healthcare support. She found community, connection, and a renewed sense of purpose.
Her story reflects something we hear often: maintaining quality of life is about more than medical care alone. It’s also about belonging, engagement, and having meaningful opportunities to connect with others.
Support For The Entire Family
Families often find themselves managing increasingly complex medical, emotional, and practical challenges as a loved one ages.
During the conversation, Dr. Charlotte Dillis, Blue Ridge Care Board Director, spoke about the realities many aging families face and the importance of coordinated support. Programs like PACE help relieve stress for both participants and caregivers by bringing healthcare and supportive services together through one comprehensive model of care.
Instead of managing multiple providers, appointments, and services independently, families gain a trusted team committed to helping them navigate the journey.
Improving Quality Of Life
At Blue Ridge Care, quality of life is at the center of everything we do.
During the segment, Ben Weber, Vice President of Business Development, shared an outcome that highlights the impact PACE is making in our community. Participants reported significant improvements in their quality of life after joining the program, with average self-reported scores increasing from 2.2 to 4.4 out of 5.
While every participant’s experience is unique, the results underscore what can happen when healthcare, social support, transportation, nutrition, therapies, and personal connections are brought together in a coordinated way.

You don’t need to have all the answers. You simply need a place to start.
At Blue Ridge Care, we’re here to answer questions, provide guidance, and help families understand the support available to help older adults live with the highest possible quality of life while maintaining independence for as long as possible.
Because no one should have to navigate aging alone.
