Comfort, dignity, and support when it matters most.
When age decline or a serious illness reaches a point where getting better is no longer the goal, hospice focuses on what matters most: comfort, peace, and quality of life — for both patients and the people who love them.
Hospice is specialized medical care for individuals facing a life-limiting illness. The focus shifts from curing the disease to managing symptoms, reducing pain and discomfort, and supporting emotional and spiritual needs. Care is delivered by an interdisciplinary team working together to support the whole person and the whole family.
Hospice at Blue Ridge Care includes:
- Expert pain and symptom management
- Nursing visits and 24/7 on-call support
- Medications and medical equipment
- Personal care assistance
- Social work and care coordination
- Spiritual care and counseling
- Caregiver and grief support for families
Hospice may be right for individuals who:
- Have been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness
- Have a prognosis of six months or less if the disease follows its normal course
- Are ready to focus on comfort rather than curative treatment
- Want care in the comfort of home or a familiar setting
Hospice is not about giving up. It is about choosing comfort, presence, and support during an important stage of life.
If someone is still pursuing aggressive or curative treatment, our Chronic Illness Care program may be a better fit — and we can help you understand the difference.
Hospice does not mean less care — it often means more support. For 45 years, Blue Ridge Care has walked alongside families during life’s most tender moments, ensuring no one faces them alone.
Families can expect:
- Relief from managing a loves one’s illness alone
- Clear communication and expert guidance

- Patient Care Fund available for those in financial need
Paws & Purrs: Pet Services
Patients often experience stress and anxiety when they worry about what will happen to their animal companions. Through the volunteer-based Paws & Purrs program, Blue Ridge Care offers free, comprehensive pet services, including feeding pets, walking dogs, taking pets to the vet or groomer, and helping to find placement for any pets that have nowhere to go after a patient passes.
Veteran Services
Veterans deserve care that recognizes both their service and their unique experiences. Military service can shape end-of-life needs in ways that require specialized understanding and support. Through our participation in the We Honor Veterans program, where we have earned a 4-Star designation, our team is trained to provide compassionate, veteran-centered care. We offer recognition ceremonies to honor each veteran’s service and connect veteran patients with specially trained volunteers—fellow veterans—who understand their experiences and can provide meaningful companionship and support.
